This coffee table has a top of Monticello Tulip Poplar II with black walnut legs hand-hewn and worked out by the West Virginia artisan Jim Lakiotes. It is 44″ long by 21″ wide, and17 1/2″ tall. Tulip Poplar butterfly joints made of the same tulip poplar II wood to keep it securely together. The finish is a conversion varnish, very tough and durable. This top is from a slice cut off from a large branch leaving the enormous trunk, and is nicely spalted.
